Red Grange Composition Doll. Red Grange was almost as famous as Babe Ruth during the ‘Roaring 20’s’ and the ‘Depression Era’ of the 30’s. He was propelled into national prominence by scoring 4 touchdowns in the 1st quarter against mighty Michigan during the 1924 season, in the span of 12 minutes, the only times he touched the football and no man even laid a hand on him – at the same time personally dedicating the new Illinois Stadium! It was this event that earned him the nickname ‘The Galloping Ghost’. From then on to the end of his varsity career and during his professional career he was the most talked-of, written-about, and photographed single player in the country. Such was his fame; there were proposals to nominate him for congress and to name a town after him. This classic miniaturized Red Grange collectable (27” overall) features composition head and hands with hand-painted detail, and retains the original red uniform (# 77) on front.
